He was one of the handsomest, most majestic people I’ve met recently and he had terminal cancer. His name was Kramer and he was a 13 year old golden Labrador. His owner, a dear friend brought him to me. I hesitate to refer to him as “animal” because he seemed more humane, more compassionate and human than many human beings I’ve met in my life. His love for my friend, the piercing intelligence and intuitive understanding and empathy in his eyes were beautiful to see. The dignity with which he conducted himself even after being so sick, his body ravaged by chemotherapy, was simultaneously heart breaking and deeply moving.
Kramer had stopped eating when I met him and I instinctively knew he was someone I was not going to be able to save, and yet in the three or four sessions of Pranic healing I gave him, he started eating again, and actually started to feel a little better. I am not permitted to have animals in my office building but a kind friend and physical therapist Amita Gupta allowed him to come there. It was so interesting that after the first session in her office, when Kramer came to see me the next day, he greeted me in his usual way by pressing his head against me and then walked into the office and sat at the very spot where he had sat on the previous day and looked at me expectantly as if to say-“Come on give me some of that healing.” Kramer was put to sleep soon after on recommendation by the vet. But I cherish the time I spent with him-precious golden memories of a handsome golden boy.
I guess it will be the same with human beings, where sometimes nothing will work as I continue to treat some very serious cases. Over the years I have had innumerable conversations with many physicians and others in different fields of alternative medicine about the great joy of healing balanced by the sorrow of not being able to do anything for many patients.
It has been equally interesting to watch the many people who I’ve treated being very inspired to learn Pranic healing for themselves and continue the preventive care, and walk the spiritual path Pranic healing advocates. Others however have walked away from it even after taking classes. There were some who left the treatment half way and others who continued to be in denial and kept saying they still had that headache or still felt unwell. It’s very easy for advanced Pranic healers to scan a person and know when they are lying due to their highly developed clairvoyant and intuitive abilities. In my case I’ve always had that ability, being psychic, and deeply intuitive, so I always know. But I never say anything, to them directly, other than trying to comfort them as best as I can. I remember Master Stephen Co telling us that we must never make the patient uncomfortable even when we know he or she is lying. That requires patience, compassion and acceptance of the person sitting before us which at times is very hard to do. Especially, when they blame the medicine or the physician, who is trying his/her best to help. Pranic healers face the same frustration but aren’t allowed to turn anyone away.
Another fact that has always intrigued me is this – why do some people walk away from something that is working well for them? Or why do some people with the same illnesses discover the right treatment for themselves while others pass away even after timely intervention?
Then there are are also those with whom it seems to be really slow progress or as some other healers mentioned to me- no progress at all.
I have said repeatedly, and so have most doctors and healers in other modalities that there is no medical treatment that cures all ills or is a magic wand. The same goes for Pranic healing. If you come to me and tell me you have had diabetes for 15 years, it is not going to heal in one session with me. I also have instances where people come to get treated for one ailment and then start rattling off several other ailments much to my exasperation and amusement. Of course they also expect that with a swish of my crystal wand, I will make all their miseries go away.
I have been luckier than most because barring a couple of naysayers and clients who didn’t go the whole distance, everyone has stuck with me, and worked through their issues and are on their way to better physical and emotional health. Many have taken classes. Not only have they felt better, they have, with encouragement from me, taken their health and well being in their own hands. I have treated people with all kinds of physical and psychological issues, and it is really heartening to see how well Pranic healing works with both. Of course, it is an ongoing process, just as anything else in life and due diligence and discipline is required for continuous preventive care.
But how long does it take to heal someone, and why don’t some people heal at all?
Firstly the length of time to heal someone depends on so many things. The age and physical condition of the person, the nature of the sickness and how long it has been there is important. It also depends on the skill of the Pranic healer, the receptivity of the patient and how frequently Pranic healing is applied.
In fact Master Choa has always encouraged Pranic healers to use a holistic and integrative approach to treat a person. We always encourage people to combine anything else that brings them relief. A simple ailment, like a headache may take a few minutes- a chronic ailment may take several days, weeks or even a few months and even a year or more.
For chronic cases, it’s really important to continue the treatments on a regular basis even after the person feels much better. Preventive care is very important.
The skill of the healer is also key. Many times the treatment may not be done correctly, or the healer may be too attached to the patient, and when the latter is the case, the energy comes back to the healer.
Certain ailments require other forms of treatments. For example if you are suffering from malnourishment, you need a nutritious diet and not just pranic healing. Pranic healing can complement the diet.
Master Choa says that those people who internalize and harbor negative thoughts, resentment, anger, anxiety and other negative emotions for a long period of time usually develop many chronic ailments.
He gave some interesting examples. There was one of a patient who suffered from cirrhosis of liver even though he does not drink. The reason was his terrible temper. The negative emotion affected the chakra that controls his liver and affected it adversely ultimately. Anger and resentment affects the immune system very badly and can cause arthritis, kidney trouble and many other problems. Stress can cause cysts in the breast and arm pits for women and raise cholesterol levels in people.
The other question people often ask – Why is it that some people cannot be healed?
There are some patients who are already too old, or weak or sickly to be cured. But I have become an even greater believer in the law of Karma. I believe that before each birth the soul decides its journey and how much of its karmic debt it will pay in each birth. I remember hearing Master Marilag’s laughter when I asked naively if we could pay off all our karmic debts in one life time. She said the suffering would be unbearable. That is why we take so many life times to work through our negative karma.
Master Choa further elaborates by explaining that many serious ailments are due to the negative deeds, thoughts and feelings in the present and past lives of the patient. If the ailment is due to negative karma that has not been resolved, then no amount of pranic healing can cure it or interfere in the karmic cycle. He gave an example of a woman who came to him with a seriously injured right leg. When pranic healing was given for 30 minutes the pain was greatly reduced but she could not come back for the second treatment the next day. She was involved in three freak accidents affecting the same leg in a matter of hours and Master Choa concluded it was due to some unresolved negative karma. The lady could never return for further treatment.
I have had at least 3 patients in whose case I saw this happen. One who in spite of several weeks of treatment is not healing as fast as I would like to see, and is gracious enough to accept and understand the karmic law and also the past residue of the negative emotions in her life. Her gratitude nevertheless will bring her blessings.
Another patient was taken away for two months and then returned to continue the healing. Master Glenn Mendoza saw I was upset and said to me – “You are interfering in what is Karmic in nature. You are attached to this patient and want her to heal faster than her soul has planned, so that is why she was taken away.” Mercifully she returned and is now so much better. Another client walked away even after he was told his life threatening stage four cancer needed more treatment. And there are many others. I can only attribute it to their karmic debt and that it is their destiny not to be healed. Or that they will be healed when the time for it is the right time. Until then the treatment will continue.
The law of Karma according to Master Choa is the key to a lot of benefits we reap in our life. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, is a popular tenet of the law of karma and the same applies to everything in life. If you want to be healed say of a particular ailment then give a donation to heal others with the same ailment. If you want to be prosperous give to others who need help.
Similarly what goes around comes around. I have seen that very clearly in my life. All my acts of kindness and generosity have come back to me in the form of all kinds of abundance. Whenever I’ve hurt someone, I have received that pain in return as well. According to Master Choa, negative Karma can be neutralized by showing mercy, forgiveness, doing charitable work, practicing vegetarianism and avoiding cruelty to others. He also says that it is possible for patients with very severe or terminal illness to be healed through the law of mercy and forgiveness.
Negative Karma can also be neutralized many times through divine intervention and the patient can be healed. And the more gratitude and receptivity you show the healer, the faster your recovery.
